Facilities

Yarrambat Primary School has worked hard to provide the very best built environment for children to learn and play within.

Our extensive sporting facilities include:

Gymnasium:

The multi-purpose gym is one of our most precious assets and is used mostly for our specialist Health and Physical Education programs and Interschool Sport. It provides a flexible learning space having 3/4 sized basketball and netball court, as well as volleyball and badminton court markings. As it is fully enclosed it enables PE sessions to continue even if there is inclement weather. The gym is also utilised by our Before and After School Care Program and for our fortnightly indoor school assemblies.

The Yarrambat Phantoms Basketball Team also use the gym to conduct training sessions after school.

Front Oval:

Our front oval has an artificial ‘Tigerturf’ surface and provides a safe and enjoyable area for students to play on all-year-round. It consists of a running track, oval and long jump pit. The running track is 200m long with 2 lanes. Inside the tracks is a marked soccer field, cricket pitch and a set of AFL goal posts down each end. These facilities are used by our local sport clubs including the Little Athletics Club and Yarrambat Football Club. Over the weekend our local community is welcome to enjoy the oval, but please remember no food, dogs or golf please.

Bat Tennis Courts and Cricket Nets:

This area, at the front of the school, also has an artificial ‘Tigerturf’ surface and consists of 5 bat tennis courts, cricket nets and 4 basketball rings. It provides students with a choice of extra playing spaces and caters specifically for our Interschool Sports’ needs. This area is utilised by the local Yarrambat Junior Cricket Club for their training sessions.

Basketball Court:

This full sized outdoor basketball and netball court allows students to play various games during lunchtime as it has moveable rings as well as markings for four square. It provides the perfect setting to cater for our Interschool Sport basketball games.

Tennis Court:

The tennis court area has an artificial ‘Tigerturf’ surface and is used for tennis lessons provided by an accredited coach. It is also used for Interschool Sport netball games due to its markings. As this outdoor area is fully fenced, it provides our younger students with an attractive and safe environment to play various ball games at lunch. This area is utilised by the local Netball club to run their training sessions.

STEAM Room

The STEAM room is located in the central courtyard between the Library and the Upper School building. It is a vibrant, light, well-resourced room where students are able to move around freely and explore their creative potential.

Performing Arts Space

The Performing Arts room is located in the Gymnasium centre. It is a flexible work space where the doors can be opened and the area used as a stage. The Performing Arts room is an open space without furniture where students are free to move around the space during dance, drama and music activities. It is well resourced with musical instruments, costumes, puppets, large-interactive TV, texts, CDs and other resources to support the Performing Arts program.

Library

The Library is a resource available to all students at Yarrambat Primary School. Each class has an organised time each week to visit the Library with their classroom teacher. During this time students are able to borrow from a wide variety of books and other reading resources.

Play Equipment

Children at Yarrambat Primary can regularly be seen mastering their skills in navigating the challenging and age appropriate play equipment. There are three play equipment places around the school- each with their own new set of obstacles.

The Prep play equipment is nested in the gum trees at the back of the school and has monkey bars, bridges, a climbing wall and a slide.

Mini Golf Course

How many schools do you know of with a mini golf course? Not many!! But here at Yarrambat Primary our children saw the need for something different in the yard. It began as a solution to a disused part of yard, when Middle School students each designed a golf hole. The nine most popular designs became the real thing after some helpful elbow grease from our parents and is now one of the most popular parts of the yard. At recess and lunch, children are able to help themselves to a range of putters and balls and 'hit the course' with their friends!

Remote Control Car Track

One of the newest assets in our yard is our remote control track. It is another unique option for children at Yarrambat Primary. Made by a group of children and parents at school and during a working bee, the remote control track features a range of obstacles for the most daring of drivers.

Creative Play

'Sticks and stones may break your bones'....unless of course you play with them sensibly, in which case they make great cubbies!!! Yarrambat Primary School recognises that not all kids want to be chasing a ball at lunchtime. Our creative play space is riddled with sticks, logs, planks and pipes, all great materials for making cubbies. It is not uncommon to finding large groups of children working together, trading and swapping building materials in the bid to make the most creative and mansion-like cubby in Yarrambat.

Giant Chess

Checkmate!!
The giant chess board is a popular pastime during recess and lunch. Children are often found in teams strategising about how to take down their opponent, or teaching others the tricks of a chess master.

Avenue Of Honour

2015 saw the proud opening of Yarrambat Primary School's Avenue of Honour. This breath-taking feature honours the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Landing and pays tribute to 11 men from the Yarrambat Primary community who served in World War 1.

The avenue features eleven pear trees, each with a sign dedicated to the memory of:

Almost standing guard of the Avenue is a descendent of the original Lone Pine. It serves to remind the Yarrambat Primary and broader community of the sacrifices all service men and women made in not only World War 1, but in all wars, peace-keeping and military events since.

The Avenue of Honour will now play host to future ANZAC Day services for the school and its community.

A big thank you to school parents David Marasco and Andrew Shephard, as well as the Diamond Creek RSL, for their support during this important project.
